FPTK UPI Successfully Hosts the AB & EB Meeting and 2022 General Assembly Meeting of Regional Association of Vocational and Technical Education in Asia (RAVTE)

The Regional Association of Vocational and Technical Education in Asia (RAVTE) annual meeting in 2022, which has the agenda of the Advisory Board (AB), Executive Board (EB), and General Assembly (GA) Meeting, was held in Indonesia and the Indonesian Education University (UPI) became the host. This AB, EB, and GA meeting were held at the UPI SPS Building and attended by participating countries who are members of RAVTE both online and offline. On the first agenda, namely Opening remarks from RAVTE and Rajamangala University of Technology Tanyaburi (RMUTT) President: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art is available offline. The entire RMUTT delegation was very enthusiastic and grateful for the invitation to the RAVTE annual meeting. After that, it was continued with a welcome remark delivered by UPI_Faculty Dean: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Iwa Kuntadi, M.Pd. A great honor for UPI to host the RAVTE annual meeting. This AB, EB, and GA meeting is very important to improve the quality of Vocational Education and Technology (TVET).

After a warm welcome from the president of RMUTT and UPI_Faculty Dean, the event continued with the second activity, namely the general reading of activities delivered by the Head of the secretariat office: Asst. Prof. Arnon Niyomphol. It is explained in detail and conveyed the essence of each agenda. Followed by the 3rd activity, namely the financial report submitted by the secretariat office: Mrs. Banleeng Sramoon. After the presentation of RAVTE's financial reports, the next agenda is a report on the activities that have been carried out by RAVTE members.

Activity report from UPI regarding the development of TVET teacher educators in Indonesia submitted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Agus Setiawan. He explained some of the problems that exist in Indonesia including teacher competence, distribution, teacher career development, etc. In addition, there is a change in the legal basis regarding teachers and lecturers. Professional teachers, must have a portfolio, attend training, and have a certificate from Professional Teacher Education (PTE) from a teacher college. UPI is one of the higher education institutions that have a PTE program. The PTE program has 2 schemes, namely for Bachelor/Diploma 4 from vocational education and non-vocational education with outputs in the form of a teacher professional certificate and a certificate of vocational skill. To get the certificate, students must take a test that is equivalent to IQL level 7.

In addition, UPI, represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ana Syarief submitted a report on the 2021 Summer Course Program: Eco-Vocational School for Sustainable Development (EVOSD) in 4.0 Industrial Evolution. This EVOSD activity is a collaborative activity with other countries and was participated by 10 countries. In addition, UPI also participated in the 3rd ASSEEE event and the RAVTE Student Innovation Award on October 1-7 November 2021. At this RAVTE Student Innovation Award event, UPI managed to get 2 medals, namely gold and bronze awards. UPI also organized UNESCO UNEVOC activities together with UTHM and invited Asst. Prof. Dr. Pakornkiat Sawetmethikul from RMUTT, Dr. Ts. Affero Ismail of UTHM and Wilson Lima Junior. The next activity that will be held by UPI is the TVTE conference.

The activity report from RMUTT regarding the RAVTE Student Innovation Award 2022. This activity can be followed by undergraduate students, both individually and in groups (2-5 members). There are two types of this activity, namely articles that have been published or presented in 3 years and prototypes. The categories of this activity are divided into 7 groups, including group A Innovation in technology and industry, group B Innovation in energy/environment/safety, group C Innovations in agricultural technology and food products, group D Innovations in medicine and herbs, group E Innovation in quality-of-life improvement, group F innovation in creativity and fine art and group G Innovation in knowledge construction. The assessment of this activity is divided into 5 criteria with a weight of 20 points for each. This activity is held from November 8 to January 18, 2022. The types of awards for this activity include the Gold RAVTE Innovation Award, Silver RAVTE Innovation Award, Bronze RAVTE Innovation Award, and the Special RAVTE Innovation Award (Best Idea, Best Quality, Best Design, Best Commercialization). The best Presentation, Best Popularity). In addition to these activities, RMUTT has also carried out ICIET activities in December 2015, December 2017, July 2018, July 2019, and September 2022. Then research activities Asst. Competency in 2021 and 2022. GA activities in January 2020, August 2021, and August 2022.

Report from Ho Chi Min City of University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) Submitted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang An Quoc, HCMUTE, and RMUTL held a conference on Green Technology and Sustainable Development on 29-30 July 2022. There were 59 papers published in the IEEE and one of them was published in Springer. In addition, HCMUTE, Faculty International Education has a MoA with the Faculty of Engineering RMUTL. HCMUTE also participated in webinars organized by UPI. In addition, 10 HCMUTE students participated in the 2022 RAVTE Innovation Award activity. Then in May 2022, HCMUTE held the EMVITET ERAMUS+ activity.

Report from UTM regarding Malaysian model for enhancing TVET regarding digitalization and automation Submitted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yusri bin Kamin. The competence of TVET lecturers at IPTA in using digital technology and automation has high ability. IR 4.0 in the Education sector will have a positive impact and produce students who are experts in digital automation. IR 4.0 can be applied in the form of smart classrooms and smart campuses that can provide interesting experiences for students. In the Malaysia Education development plan from 2015-2025, lecturers want to be able to make changes or innovations in learning strategies. The competence of lecturers can continue to develop following changes in digitalization.

After the agenda for the presentation of activities from each university, the activities continued to agenda 5, namely the Renewal of RAVTE Action Platform 2022-2025 (RAP 2022-2025). In this action plan, there are changes to the theme, namely into 4 general themes as follows:

Theme 1: Integrated work-based education with stakeholder engagement

Theme 2: Digital transformation and automation ASEAN economics 4.0

Theme 3: Green TVET for sustainable development

Theme 4: ASEAN education network and collaboration

These four general themes will be linked to sustainable development goals (SDGs) which consist of 17 aspects including no poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, industry innovation, and infrastructure, reduce inequalities, sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption and production, climate action, life below water, life on land, pace justice, and strong institutions, and partnership for the goals.

After that, the discussion continued with the RAVTE action plan 2023 regarding what activities RAVTE will organize including RAVTE Award, Lab Talk rotate host, RAVTE academy, Research Ass Competency, GAM, EB, and AB meeting, and Fund Exploring once a month. At RAVTE Academy, a platform will be created to share content information, several platforms can be used but Youtube is the most popular platform reaching 81%. So Youtube was chosen as a very appropriate platform to be used as a means of RAVTE Academy. However, at this time the RAVTE Youtube channel only contains 3 contents. It is hoped that this Youtube channel can be developed so that students can access it and activities will be more efficient and effective. At the time of opening this channel in April 2023, it already had 150 content and it was expected that there would be 10-20 Youtube content every month.

The next agenda was the introduction of a new member of GA RAVTE, namely the Sichuan University of Science and Engineering (SUSE). This agenda describes the profile of SUSE in Zigong, Sichuan, China which has 74 undergraduate programs with 9 categories of disciplines including engineering, science, management, economy, law, literature, art, education, and history. After the entire series of events at the SPS Building was completed, all delegates representing EB and AB RAVTE moved to the Parterre UPI Building to hold the signing ceremony of the UPI-Indonesia MOU Cooperation with RMUTT-Thailand and MoA between UPI-UTHM.
