Community Service Team (P2M) Civil Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Technology and Vocational Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia consists of Drs. Rakhmat Yusuf, M.T., Drs. Odih Supratman, S.T., M.T., Siti Nurasiyah, M.T., Dr. T. Juang Akbardin, MT, Mardiani, S.Pd., M.Eng., And Herwan Dermawan, MT, held a Community Service Team (P2M) activity with the title Socialization of Making Biopore Drill Holes as an Effort to manage rainwater in Bugel Village, Ciawi District, Tasikmalaya Regency (31 / 10/20).

"The problem arises in Bugel Village. During the dry season there is often difficulty in getting clean water but during the rainy season the water is overflow. Therefore, artificial conservation measures are the ideal approach. One of the ways is by making Biopore Infiltration Holes (LRB). The topic was implemented as one of the ways for UPI to support water conservation on earth especially rainwater, " said Rakhmat.

Furthermore, Rakhmat explained that the LRB is quite popular among the community, but if it is not attempted, it is often ignored.  Needless to say, micro-efforts to collect rainwater will have many impacts on the local environment and its surroundings.

In addition to the conservation of water, LRB may also produce compost, as organic waste from the leftovers of the kitchen or leaves falling in the yard is placed in the hole. It decomposes and this is what invites microorganisms in the soil to reach a hole, leaves traces or pores in the soil, and can be used to absorb rainwater.

"Saving rainwater, if executed together, will also reduce drainage on the surface, and floods in lowland areas,“ concluded the Team Leader, Drs. Rakhmat Yusuf, M.T.
