The International Conference on TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) is a 2-year program organized by the Faculty of Education and Vocational Technology of Indonesia University of Education (FPTK UPI). This year, 2022, is the seventh time it will be held within the Regional Association of Vocational and Technical Education in Asia (RAVTE) framework. The theme of this year's conference is âDigitalization on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)â.
This international conference began in a limited offline format on Wednesday morning, August 10, 2022, at the FPTK building, and was broadcast live on the online conference network. On that occasion, Dr. Iwa Kuntadi, M.Pd., the dean of FPTK accompanied by the vice dean of FPTK was also present offline and delivered his remarks. The conference was officially opened by the rector of UPI, Prof. Dr. M. Solehuddin, M.A.
The chairman of the committee of the 7th UPI International conference on TVET, Dr Mustika Nuramalia Handayani, M.Pd., said that the conference had consists of two sessions, namely a plenary session and a parallel session.
In the plenary session, three keynote speakers presented. Asst. Prof. Dr. Pakornkiat Sawetmethikul from Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, Thailand, as the first keynote speaker, delivered material on Thailand's Digital Transformation and TVET Education forwarding ASEAN Economics 4.0. The presentation of the first plenary session was moderated by Dr. Ts. Affero Ismail from UTHM, Malaysia, where both of them were present offline in the FPTK smart class (main room for the conference).
The second plenary session which was held after the parallel session was attended offline by Dr. Mumu Komaro from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia who delivered his presentation on Digitalization on TVET as effective learning materials & media. The third keynote speaker, Wilson Lima Junior (Project Manager for BILT, Bridging Innovation and Learning in TVET, UNESCO-UNEVOC, Germany) gave her presentation online on Digitalization in TVET. The two keynote speakers were moderated by Ana Ramdhani, S.Pd., M.Plan.
More than 300 people from Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Ghana, and the Philippines participated in this conference online via the Zoom Meeting platform. They congratulated the committee and actively participated in asking questions of the keynote speakers and debating in parallel sessions. A parallel session is an opportunity for researchers, lecturers, students, and practitioners to share their knowledge, experiences, and critical thinking about TVET development. There were 115 abstracts registered in the TVET conference registration system from various universities in Indonesia and abroad for this conference. The committee recognized the seven best presenters during the best presenter awarding session.
At the closing of the conference which was held on Wednesday afternoon (10/08), UPI Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Didi Sukyadi, expressed his appreciation to the leadership of the FPTK as well as all the committees who have worked hard and supported the success of the conference. Hopefully, this conference will positively impact TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) development in Indonesia and around the world.
